Its the Weekend – So we cook!

by Jerry Stover on February 27, 2010

As I have said before – when the weekends come around I slow things down in the shop and we focus on my other passion, the slow food movement.  Like good woodworking, good food takes time and a little effort.   This week it is a return to fresh bread.  I have grown tired of buying loafs of bread from the store that are neither ultra fresh or fit my particular taste that day.  The solution – bake it yourself.    I found this great receipe on line for a Honey Oat Loaf.  The best part is I can toss it in the bread machine (ok so even I am not a purist) and then head out to the shop for more work.  Bread will be ready in time or a late lunch.

Check out the link below to give it a try:

“Do what you can, where you are, with what you have”.   T. Roosevelt.

Recently my wife purchased a coffee mug with the above quote on it.  I think of this quote now every single time I walk into my shop.  I think when the quote is applied to America’s woodworking community it speaks volumes about the hows and wheres of our work.

It is simple, elegant, Truth.   Maybe Teddy was a woodworker.
