It has to start somewhere...

Two of my deep passions in life are food and woodworking. I have spent my professional career trying to marry these passions into one. Many years ago, I had my first success with this effort when I made my family a new wooden cutting board. Being a young and novice woodworker at the time, my first cutting board was a complete disaster by my standards now, but it served to set my fascination with making artistic cutting boards into motion. I made more and more boards. I tried new techniques and styles. Some were great successes while others were aesthetic disasters. Each board though improved on the one before it. This progressed with my woodworking career for many years. For years, every cutting board I made was given away to friends and family. One day though everything would change forever. A client was in the shop looking at a piece of furniture under construction and saw a finished cutting board sitting on a workbench. A brief discussion was had and my very first cutting board sale was complete. From that single first sale, cutting boards, without any advertising, have grown into a substantial and much beloved staple of my woodworking studio.
Cutting boards have led to cheese boards, bread boards, serving platters, and turned bowls. Over the years with the rise of the internet, customers have often expressed frustration at not being able to send their friends and family to a website for easy ordering. It’s not that I didn’t think it was a good idea, its just I am a woodworker not a computer guy. Or so I thought.
During the Christmas of 2011 a good friend pushed me to finally start an online store. In other words he set it up for me and then showed me how to use it. I am not ashamed to admit how this all came to fruition. I work with wood all day every day, not computers. I didn’t realize how much I needed the push and the technical expertise.
Everyday my woodworking shop makes many items including custom furniture, cabinetry, and other products specifically to help fellow woodworkers. As I thought about how to develop the online arm of my woodworking studio and what items I should initially offer, my cutting boards and soon my other kitchen products seemed like the natural place to begin.
So if the website doesn’t seem perfect bear with me, it will get better. The cutting boards and other products on the other hand – well they speak for themselves.
